From snow and ice to frigid then more seasonal temperatures, the weather so far this winter is keeping roofing companies busy.

Sanderson Roofing crews are trying to keep up with calls from numerous customers reporting leaky roofs and condensation problems.

“What’s happening is we’re getting a large build-up of ice at the perimeter of the roof and when the snow melts and tries to run off the roof  it can’t get away, it’s dammed by the ice and it forces its way up under the shingles and people get water entry into the house,” said Donald Mann with Sanderson Roofing.

In terms of damage, Mann said this winter has been one of the worst in decades.

Experts suggest that homeowners don’t take it upon themselves to remove the snow and ice from their roof because if any damage occurs, it could affect the warranty.
