Ottawa police have arrested a suspect who is accused of posing as a police officer and robbing elderly victims more than half a dozen times since Dec. 10.

Police say the man approached elderly citizens and identified himself verbally as a police officer or said things that would lead them to believe he was one. The man, who was not wearing a uniform, allegedly stole money from the victims and fled.

Police say the incidents all took place between Dec. 10th and 23rd.

Ottawa police have arrested and charged 66-year-old Adrian McQuade with seven counts of falsely representating a peace officer, two counts of robbery, two counts of theft not exceeding $5000, one count of assault and possession of stolen property.

The suspect was described as a well-dressed white male between 50 and 60 years old who is six feet tall with a medium build and white wavy hair.

The incidents occurred on Rideau St. between Cumberland and Charlotte.
