Police say a 70-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Woodroffe Avenue on the Hwy. 417 overpass Sunday evening.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Paramedics say a 66-year-old female was transported to hospital with chest, abdominal and hand injuries but is in stable condition.

Two men were assessed at the scene but were not taken to hospital.

A number of closures were in effect as police investigate the cause of the crash:

  • Woodroffe Avenue northbound and southbound at the Hwy. 417 overpass
  • Hwy. 417 westbound off ramp to northbound Woodroffe Avenue
  • Hwy. 417 west bound off ramp to southbound Woodroffe Avenue
  • Hwy. 417 eastbound off ramp is open, however there is no access to northbound Woodroffe Avenue
  • The eastbound Hwy. 417 on ramp is open, accessible from northbound Woodroffe Avenue.

The roads opened again around 5:30 Monday morning.

Police say it is too early to say whether charges will be laid.
