Eastern Ontario is on flood watch as heavy rain and high river levels will cause area rivers to spill over their banks in many low lying areas.

The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority says flooding will likely occur in some areas in the next 36 hours.

That's not surprising to Don Russell, a resident of Hilly Lane in North Grenville Township,

Russell says the Environment Canada forecast of 30 mm of rain will mean flooding will affect about 27 homes in the area.

" I lived here for 12 years and this will be our fourth flood". I can tell by the water levels in the river when we'll get hit again", said Russell.

Rideau Valley says local flooding of roadways will begin by tomorrow evening.

The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority says the watershed in its region is not expected to peak for another week.

The South Nation Conservation Authority also issued a flood watch alert. The biggest problem east of the City is along the Castor River watershed.
