Paramedics confirm a female pedestrian was struck and killed while walking along River Road, south of Manotick Thursday evening.
Ottawa police say a single vehicle was involved in the incident, which happened just after 7pm. River Road was closed in both directions between Rideau Forest Drive and Doyle Road while collision investigators pored over the scene.
Police say the victim's name is not being released at the request of her family.
There are reports the woman's daughter was taken to hospital after being injured in the same incident.
