OTTAWA - The Central District Investigation Unit is currently investigating an incident that occurred before 2 a.m. on September 29, 2013 on Preston Street, near Young Street.
A 25 year-old man and a 28 year-old woman (the two victims) were sitting on a bench when police say two women and a man walked by. A verbal dispute evolved into a physical altercation between the parties.
During the physical altercation between the two men, one stabbed the other with a sharp object sending him to the hospital with serious injuries in the upper torso area.
The three suspects left the scene in a vehicle after taking the purse of the female victim. All three were arrested by Ottawa Police Service Neighborhood Officers.
The following two people have been charged:
Marston Rice, 39 years-old, of Gatineau:
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault With a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Heather Phelan, 35 years-old, of Gatineau:
- Assault
- Theft
Marston Rice was to appear in court on Monday, September 30, 2013.
A third person was also charged with assault in September 2013, but all charges against against that person were withdrawn in June 2014.
