A boil water advisory is in effect for 10,000 homes in Gatineau after a watermain break affected the quality of drinking water in parts of the city.

City officials say the watermain break on Tuesday caused an interruption in water service to homes in the following areas:

  • Boulevard Lorrain (east)
  • Avenue Gatineau (west)
  • Chemin Valiquette (north)
  • Boulevard Saint René Ouest (south)

Although repairs have been made, the city has ordered a precautionary boil water advisory for those areas.

Residents are advised to boil their water for at least one minute before drinking it.
