Suspicious package at grocery store deemed not harmful

An evacuation order at a Price Chopper grocery store in east Ottawa is over after a suspicious package reported to police was deemed to be not harmful.

The package, which was left outside the store days ago, appears to contain construction material.

Police evacuated the grocery store and cordoned off the parking lot after the suspicious package was reported to authorities at 8 a.m. Friday.

Although the package was not dangerous, police are continuing to encourage residents to report anything that appears to be suspicious.
