The two sides in the Valu-Mart labour dispute in Shawville have agreed to return to the bargaining table.

Quebec's Ministry of Labour has been working to get talks back on track since the 32 workers rejected the store's final offer last week.

Workers began to strike on Dec. 3, prompting concerns the grocery store might shut down for good. The Valu-Mart, which is Shawville's only grocery store, put out a statement in May saying that management would close the store permanently.

The mayor estimates 10,000 people rely on the Valu-Mart for food.

The negotiation process is expected to restart next week.
