Emergency crews from Ottawa and Gatineau, Quebec are searching for one of two teenage boys who fell through the ice on the Ottawa River late Monday, Apr. 6, 2015.

Rescuers were called to an area near Kettle Island around 10:30 p.m.

Gatineau firefighters rescued a 16-year-old boy from the icy river and transported him to hospital.

A 14-year-old boy is still missing.

Searchers and canine units scoured the river's edge for any sign of the boy Monday night.

On Tuesday afternoon, a specialized water search and rescue unit of the Sûreté du Québc was called in to assist. They searched an area of the river between the west end of Kettle Island and the Gatineau shoreline.

The two were reportedly walking on the river when the ice collapsed under their weight. Gatineau Police have not released their identities.
