Police say they've contacted almost all owners of the type of red sports car involved in a deadly hit-and-run that killed a 38-year-old man in downtown Ottawa 10 days ago.

Police say they've been able to determine the red Mazda RX-8 sports car that struck Mitchell Anderson as he crossed the road at Colonel By Drive and Rideau Street had Ontario licence plates. They have now narrowed their search to 49 vehicles registered in the Ottawa area.

Anderson was critically injured in the collision on July 13 and died in hospital two days later.

Witnesses have described the driver of the sports car as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s. A passenger travelling in the car at the time of the collision is described as a white female with shoulder-length blond hair also in her late 20s or early 30s.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call Ottawa police at 613-236-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS.
