OTTAWA - The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying an individual suspected of two sexual assaults and have released an artist’s rendering of the man.

The first incident occurred in the West end on August 5, 2012 in a residential complex at the intersection of Greenbank Road and Banner Road. The second incident occurred in the South end on June 26, 2013 on the footpath between Lancaster Road and Erinbrook Crescent.

The suspect is described as having olive or light brown complexion, medium build, approximately 175-180cm (5'9"to 5'11") with short dark hair, he had a neatly trimmed chin strap type beard in August 2012 and facial hair in June 2013, spoke English with no accent however he may also speak a foreign language. He appeared to be in his 20s but he could be older. He was also described as having a neat and well-kept appearance.

Possible witnesses in June 26th assault

Police also want to speak to potential witnesses in the vicinity of the footpath just before the assault occurred on June 26th between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Among these, a person was walking on Lancaster Road, described as a man with a darker complexion, 30-40 yrs old, wearing light coloured rectangular glasses; a couple with the woman wearing a Hijab were also observed walking around the area at the time of the incident.

The Ottawa Police is asking these witnesses and any other witnesses to come forward and share any information they have.

“Ottawa Police has yielded information that may indicate that the two sexual assaults have been perpetrated by the same male suspect,” noted Staff Sergeant Angela McDade, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit. “At this point, we don’t believe that there is a connection between both victims, other than the possibility that the culprit may have or had connections to both of these areas.
