Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau hosted his first live twitter chat today. For an hour, people could tweet questions about their concerns.

Those concerns were numerous and varied. Some wanted more information on protecting children online. Others had traffic concerns. Questions were also raised about training police to respond to women’s issues, and to build more trust with people of colour.

Bordeleau says he wants to reach out to those who might not attend police community meetings. He says he gained 40 new followers and supplied over 50 answers.

He says the hour was intense, but successful. And he hopes to hold more live tweet chats in the future.
