Ottawa paramedics say a man shovelling snow in his driveway south of Metcalfe, Ont. collapsed and died on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014.

Paramedics received the call at about 8:30 a.m.  When they arrived at the home they found an 84-year-old man without vital signs. A neighbour called  911.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Paramedics are again warning residents that this snow is heavy and wet, and shovelling it can take a toll on the heart. If someone is short of breath or has chest pain, they should call 911 immediately.
