Paramedics responded to a man in his 70s this afternoon who collapsed shovelling snow.

Paramedics say they were called after he collapsed in his driveway at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2014.

When paramedics arrived, bystanders were performing CPR after they saw him collapse while shovelling.

Paramedics managed to restart his heart. He was unconscious and not breathing on his own. He’s listed in critical condition in hospital.

Emergency officials are reminding everyone not to strain themselves while shovelling snow, especially if they are older, or have a pre-existing heart condition.
