COBDEN, Ont. - More than 45 reptiles have been seized from a property south of Pembroke by the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The seizure happened Monday in Cobden, located in Renfrew County.

The SPCA says bearded dragons, snakes, lizards and an alligator were among the reptiles removed from the property.

Other animals were left behind but the SPCA says compliance orders were issued concerning care.

The organization says the investigation is ongoing.

In Ontario, individual municipalities are responsible for regulations surrounding exotic animals.
