OC Transpo buses had trouble getting any traction in today's heavy snowfall with as many as 60 calls for tow truck assistance.

Another 13 buses were involved in minor crashes.

The information was conveyed by OC Transpo boss John Manconi in a memo to Ottawa City Council.

On its twitter feed, OC Transpo reported delays of 45 minutes or more.

For Judy Bruce and a group of passengers hoping to get home to Richmond, the wait was more than an hour and a half.

"I'm cold, wet and frustrated. I just want to get home", said an exasperated Bruce.

Ottawa and Eastern Ontario remain under a snowfall warning issued by Environment Canada.

The snowfall is causing havoc on area roads.

Commutes that normally take 20 minutes are now taking 2 hours.

Ottawa Police report 86 collisions as of 5:30 pm.

An overnight parking ban is also in place in the City of Ottawa.
