No cause has yet been found for the second blaze in Kanata this weekend, a condo fire that left an unknown number of residents homeless and causing $2 million in damage. Officials say the building will likely need to be torn down.

Firefighters arrived at 407 and 408 Stratas Ct. -- just west of Eagleson Road -- around 5:45 a.m. and closed several roads nearby the fire for hours as they worked to put it out.

Twenty-four trucks and 65 firefighters worked on the four-alarm blaze, which caused $1.5 million in building damage and $0.5 million in contents damage.

Officials say they believe the fire broke out in a bedroom.

Everyone inside the eight-unit condominium was evacuated, and one firefighter sustained minor injuries.

A number of fires have happened in Ottawa in December and January, including one in Kanata on Saturday just five minutes' drive from this one.

In that case, the house fire at 81 Stokes Cres. left a family homeless and caused $600,000 damage. The cause for that is also under investigation.
