Ottawa's mayor is apologizing to the francophone community after a city-organized Olympic torch event was celebrated in English only.
Several hundred people attended the event at Ottawa City Hall on Saturday to welcome the torch to Ottawa.
However, federal, provincial and municipal politicians who gave speeches at the event spoke only in English.
Mayor Larry O'Brien says it was a mistake not to celebrate the Olympic torch in both official languages. He says a similar situation will not happen again.
