Hospital workers have won a major victory in a settlement with the Ottawa Hospital, giving workers a six per cent pay raise over three years.

The two parties signed a Memorandum of Settlement when they agreed to a new collective agreement in March.

A few months later, the hospital tried to break the settlement after the provincial budget was delivered. Both parties filed for arbitration.

A panel of arbitrators sided with the hospital's union on Thursday, ruling the signed memorandum is considered a binding contract.
