Elections Canada will investigate hundreds of bogus phone calls that told voters their polling stations had changed at the last minute, even though they hadn't.

The hoax phone calls apparently told voters to go to polling stations that didn't exist.

Elections Canada says they've received several complaints across the country. So far, there have been more than a dozen in the Ottawa-area.

Voters are advised to beware of any phone calls about changes to their polling stations.

Elections Canada was also forced to scramble Monday when about 30 people assigned to work at polling stations in Ottawa-West Nepean called in sick.

A spokesperson for Elections Canada said it's not unusual for people to call in sick on election day. Each riding usually has at least 25 workers on stand-by.
