Gatineau Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Yvon Normand last November. 40-year-old Richard Bisson, who is the nephew of Normand, was nabbed yesterday by the SWAT team.

Bisson appeared in a Gatineau court today to be officially charged with second degree murder.  He is accused of killing his uncle, 58-year-old Yvon Normand, whose body was found inside a home on Pierre-Lafontaine on November 11, 2013.  It is now known that he was actually killed two days earlier inside that home that he had been renovating.  Police say his nephew sometimes worked with him on jobs.

“Mr. Bisson is known by our police service for other criminal acts he's done in the past ,” says Chief-Inspector Marc Leduc, from the Criminal Investigations Division with Gatineau Police, “and the victim is without any history.  An autopsy revealed the cause of death was a result of a head trauma by blunt object,” he added.

Why he was killed will be part of the investigation and ensuing court case.  This was Gatineau's 5th murder of 2013. Police have suspects in all those cases.   Gatineau's biggest "unsolved" case is the murder in 2011 of 18-year-old Valerie Leblanc near the CEGEP that she was attending.  Gatineau Police say that case remains a top priority for them.
