Ottawa firefighters said a fire in east Ottawa Saturday night was started by an accidental electrical failure in a garage door opener.
They said they received a call to the garage fire at 1427 Forest Valley Drive in Chapel Hill around 10:25 p.m. Saturday.
It took fire crews just over half an hour to get the fire under control with 27 firefighters and 12 vehicles.
Damage is estimated at $75,000 to the building which included smoke and water damage to the attached home, $25,000 to the contents and $5,000 to a van in the garage.
Firefighters said two adults and four children are displaced as a result. There were no injuries.
