A fire marshal walked through CTV Ottawa's burned out newsroom Thursday, stepping through the destruction that once buzzed with reporters gathering local news.

The roof over parts of the newsroom has been completely removed, leaving the centre of the room uncovered and exposed to the elements.

Inside, desks are gone; computers are melted and notes and video are either destroyed or tarnished.

Although flames tore through many parts of the newsroom early Feb. 7, the patterns of the fire caused flames to destroy some areas, while it left others untouched.

Photographs of family memories are still standing in blackened picture frames belonging to some staff members. Even pieces of paper in some parts of the room survived the flames.

Down the hall, photos and awards still hang in the office of CTV Ottawa's chief anchor Max Keeping.

The office, dubbed the "museum" for all the memorabilia it holds, appears to have been untouched by the flames. However, it did experience water and smoke damage.

It is unknown how long it will take to determine the cause of the fire, which caused an estimated $2.5 million in damage.
