An autopsy was conducted Sunday to determine the identity of a woman whose body was found on a public beach near Bancroft, Ont.
Ontario provincial police were not immediately able to determine the sex of the victim when they found the body at Papineau Lake, in the Township of Hastings Highland, just before 2 a.m. on Saturday.
Police say the woman had obvious signs of trauma to her body. They are treating the case as a homicide.
The woman's cause of death remains unknown.
