1 person found with gunshot wound in Meadowlands area
Ottawa police say a 19-year-old man who was found with a gunshot wound in the area of Meadowlands Drive and Merivale Road on Wednesday happened about two kilometres away at a local park near Algonquin College.
Police tape went up in a parking lot on Meadowlands ust before 3 p.m. Wednesday. Police said on social media that one person was found with a gunshot wound.
The victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.
Ottawa paramedics said an adult man was transported to hospital in serious condition.
In a news release Thursday, police said they believe the shooting initially took place at Ryan Farm Park on Parkglen Drive.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information related to this incident, cell phone footage, or any other video of the incident who has not yet spoken with police to contact the Guns and Gangs Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5050.
