A 90-year-old woman is searching for answers after she says she was pelted with apples in a bizarre home invasion.

Laura David says she was in her kitchen last Saturday night around 7:00 p.m. when someone broke into her home by a side door. David says she didn't know someone was in her house until she was hit in the back with an apple.

"They went to the back of the house where all the apples were, the rotten ones," she says. "They opened the door and threw them at me ... wherever there was a door, they opened it and threw them at me."

David says there was at least one intruder, but there could have been more. The attack, she says, felt like it lasted about an hour.

"I'd like to know who this person is. He certainly had a love of nerve and he should be taken care of."

The longtime Chesterville resident says she did not immediately call police. She says she was concerned, but not hurt and did not think about calling for help. Ontario Provincial Police were notified of the incident until David's niece, Julia Lovell, came from Toronto to help out.

"I can't believe anyone would do this, let alone to a 90-year-old," Lovell says. "One of those apples could have killed her. Thank god they did not."

Lovell and her aunt say the support from the community has been a big help. A group from a local church volunteered to help the pair remove all the rotten apples from inside David’s home. Those apples are now in boxes waiting to be picked up by the garbage truck.

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating and say they currently have no suspects. Both David and Lovell are hopeful the person or persons behind this incident will be caught and held responsible.
