Hamilton Police have called off their search for a 62-year-old man wanted in connection to historical sex assaults dating back to the 70s.

Though police believed Roger Marcotte may have been living in Ottawa, they say he was arrested in the Niagara region just before noon Wednesday.

Marcotte has been charged with four counts of gross indecency and four counts of indecent assault.

Hamilton Police launched an investigation in February after a series of reports of sexual assaults on young boys surfaced. The alleged assaults happened in Hamilton during the late 60s and early 70s.

Marcotte is accused of developing friendships with boys under the age of 16 in his neighbourhood at the time and sexually assaulting them.
