Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 58-year-old man who did not return to a psychiatric hospital in Coquitlam, B.C. and may be in the Ottawa area.

Coquitlam RCMP issued a release that said Kurt Derksen left the Colony Farm Forensic Psychiatric Hospital on a day pass on Thursday but did not return.

According to the release, Derksen was allowed to be at his brother’s residence in Richmond but left.

A Canada-wide warrant has now been issued for Derksen, who is unlawfully at large. Coquitlam RCMP said they have reason to believe Derksen may be in the Ottawa area.

Derksen is described as a white male, five feet, nine inches tall, 201 lbs. with short brown hair and blue eyes. He has a full beard and is possibly wearing glasses.

Police said to not approach Derksen if you spot him and to call police.
