What I think after Game 1.

1/ The Senators win doesn't surprise me. Cory Clouston prepares his team well. This was a team playing a good system, beating a team with more star power. Let's be honest. Fleury was nasty bad. Some of those goals he let in were beer league stuff.

2/ There were eyebrows raised early on when Ruttu, Kelly and Neil were getting fourth-line minutes, but making higher line money. They got third-line minutes Wednesday night and were the best line on the ice. Score one for Bryan Murray who knows a thing or two about building hockey teams.

3/ Goaltending. Wow. It was an adventure...both ends. There were 47 shots total. Nine goals. Playoff hockey?

4/ Penguins fans are terrific. Polite. Passionate. They know the game. Good city. Great fans.

5/ People think travelling to cover playoffs is a perk. Try it sometime. Hockey players are out of their comfort zone away from their home rink. It happens too with reporters. Believe me, I'm not complaining about being here. But.....

Feedback...please bring it on. I'm new to this blogging stuff. When I began in broadcasting, typewriters were new. Guidance is appreciated.
