The OPP is investigating the attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl in Renfrew, about an hour and a half west of Ottawa.
Police say a man tried to lure the child with candy and grab her as she walked to school around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning.
It happened on Bruce St. as the girl walked towards Stewart St. in Renfrew.
Police say a man called to the girl from across the street and offered her candy, but she ignored him and quickly walked away.
As she waited to cross the road, police say the man approached her and tried to grab her.
She kicked and tripped the man and ran away.
Police say the suspect drove away in a black van parked near the Wendy’s restaurant at the intersection of Bruce and Stewart streets.
The male suspect is described as being in his early 20s, tall and skinny with dark brown hair and blue eyes, with a skull tattoo on the back of his left hand, and piercings in his nose and lips.
He was wearing a red, blue and black Fox brand coat.
