The search is on tonight for a man responsible for at least two recent bank robberies in west Ottawa.

The first happened at approximately 7:35 p.m. at a bank situated along the 700 block of Baseline Road, near Fisher Ave., on September 29th. The suspect waved a gun and demanded cash. He fled with and undisclosed amount of cash.

Then, on October 7th, at approximately 3:05 p.m. the suspect  held up a bank in the 400 block of Terry Fox Drive where he again waved a hand gun, demanded cash, and fled with an undisclosed amount.

The suspect is described as being a Caucasian male, approximately 5'6" (168cm), English speaking. He was wearing sunglasses, a balaclava, a hooded jacket and a ball cap in both robbery incidents.  Additionally, he was carrying a bag over his shoulder.

No one was hurt in either robbery.

Ottawa Police believe it is the same suspect responsible for both robberies.
