An Ottawa man is among 10 others facing charges after a human trafficking investigation in York Region.

The charges come after a two-month investigation by York Regional Police that focussed on protecting women from being forced into prostitution and sexually exploited.

25-year-old Yasin Mohamud is facing seven charges including human trafficking, trafficking cocaine and procuring to have illicit sexual intercourse. 

York Regional Police announced the charges at a news conference in Aurora, near Toronto, Thursday morning.

A total of 10 men were arrested in recent months and are facing more than 120 charges including human trafficking, forcible confinement, sexual assault and living on the avails of a juvenile prostitute.

The men charged are between 20 and 28 years old.
