A couple is homeless after a fire in Alfred, east of Ottawa, on Tuesday.
The local fire department battled the blaze on Ritchance Road early Tuesday afternoon, but weren’t able to save the house.
The man and woman who lived there weren’t home at the time.
Investigators are at the scene again Wednesday to try and figure out what happened at the site, which is about a 90 minute drive east of downtown Ottawa.
They say a wood stove may be to blame.
