The call centre at Coventry Connections was allegedly damaged by disgruntled airport taxi drivers Friday morning as the dispute with their dispatcher reached its third month.

Coventry Connections said wires were ripped out, chairs were toppled and security cameras were covered with garbage bags when more than a dozen pepole stormed its call centre. The vice president of Coventry Connections estimated damage to be around $75,000.

The union representing airport taxi drivers said they don’t condone violence and the move wasn’t meant to threaten anyone.

Outside Coventry Connections, hundreds of Unifor members from across the province gathered to protest on behalf of the taxi drivers.

The dispute has been going on since August when the fee to pick up fares at the airport increased. Drivers call it unfair.
