Brooke Henderson shot a 69 today in a qualifier which will enable her to play in this week's LPGA event in the Bahamas.

The Pure Silk Bahamas Classic will be held February 5-8 at Paradise Island.

The 17 year-old Smiths Falls native turned professional in December 2014.

She signed with sports agency IMG and skipped the option of playing at the University of Florida.

Henderson was ranked the top amateur golfer in the world when she made the decision to turn pro.

In her first event last week, Henderson shot a 2 under 69 to win the Sun Coast Lades Championship in West Orange County

Florida.

Her older sister Brittany finished second in that tournament.

Tour players must be 18 to play in an LPGA event.

Henderson can play up to six LPGA events on exemptions and must qualify for other tournaments.
