A man is dead after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a mini-van in east Ottawa Saturday afternoon.
Ottawa paramedics said they were called to St. Laurent Boulevard just north of Highway 417 around 3:15 p.m. after the crash.
An off-duty paramedic was driving by the scene and performed CPR on the 54-year-old male driver, who was in cardiac arrest.
He was resuscitated and taken to the Ottawa Hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
His 53-year-old wife was a passenger on the motorcycle. She was going in and out of consciousness after suffering multi-system trauma and is in serious condition in hospital.
The driver of the van was uninjured.
Ottawa police are investigating and have closed St. Laurent Boulevard between Coventry Road and Lemieux Street.
