A security guard has been charged with public mischief after allegedly claiming he was robbed in April.

Police say they responded to a report of a robbery on Cresthaven Drive in Barrhaven around 2 a.m. on April 23. The complainant was a security guard watching over a business under construction.

The complainant reported being robbed by a group of men, one of whom was carrying a handgun.

Police returned about an hour later when the complainant reported the suspects had come back. They arrested five people all under the age of 18.

Those five teens were released without charge later that day.

On Friday, police said Ali Chokeir, 20, is facing one charge of public mischief.

He is due in court next month.
