Two Almonte, Ont. residents are recovering from critical injuries in hospital after they were injured in a fatal plane crash that killed two others near Quebec City early Tuesday morning.
Dan Weiher and Stephanie Shipley survived the fatal crash. Pilot Jesse Barrie, 27, and passenger Jeffrey McClymont, 26, both of Almonte, died in the crash.
Barrie was flying the Piper Cherokee 140 when it went down near Notre-Dame-Auxiliatrice-de-Buckland, about 65 kilometres from Quebec City.
The plane lost contact with air traffic control shortly after taking off from the provincial capital around 5 a.m. for a journey to Saint John, N.B. It had originally left a small airport in Arnprior, Ont., before arriving in Quebec City.
The Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
