Two teens are facing charges in connection with an armed robbery in Ottawa's west end.
Police arrested the teens shortly after a 38-year-old man was allegedly followed off a bus and robbed near Woodroffe Avenue and Norice Street on Saturday night.
Police say the man was approached by three male suspects as he walked along Norice Street. The suspects allegedly produced a knife and demanded money from the victim, according to police.
The man, who was uninjured in the incident, flagged down a police officer who was patrolling the area. After a brief foot chase, two of the suspects were arrested and a knife was recovered.
Both teens are charged with robbery. The 17-year-old suspect is also charged with possession of a weapon.
Jonathan Bashizi, 18, is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 21. A 17-year-old male, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 22.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS.
