Think back to all of those Ottawa Senators teams that were loaded with talent but duds in the playoffs. Missing on those teams was, it seemed, heart.
Effort and character have never been issues this year. The Game 5 five win in Pittsburgh showed us all that heart can win hockey games. They blocked shots. They hit. They were outplayed for long stretches. And they never gave up.
Ottawa is a funny city. It's a white-collar town that appreciates blue -ollar work ethic. People appreciate the Neils and the Fishers and Kellys and Winchesters of the world. They never quit.
Game 6 tonight, and back home so much depends on Pascal Leclaire: a forgotten man through the last half of the season. If he plays like he did Thursday night in Pittsburgh, you have to like the Senators' chances of forcing a game seven.
The Penguins have a huge advantage on the talent scale. The Senators don't quit. As we've learned from all those stacked Senators teams of the past, the most talented team doesn't always win.
