Sens fever is making a comeback in the capital, days after many fans started losing faith in the team after the Ottawa Senators gave up three consecutive games to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the NHL playoffs, losing two of those games at home.

A triple overtime win on Thursday changed all that. After almost six periods of hockey, Matt Carkner, from Winchester, scored the winning goal.

Sports bars and pubs across the city were packed, with many fans at the edge of their seats. Many others watched the game from home, staying up late to see the victory.

“I got to get my fill of coffee; I'm on auto pilot thanks to five periods of hockey last night with the Ottawa Senators," said one coffee-shop patron.

Tickets to the game were a hot item on Friday, with tickets selling out by midday.

Some who weren't able to get tickets to Saturday night's game now say they're willing to do almost anything to get one.

"I would literally do anything to go, I'd paint my face, put the red wig on," said fan Joel Kingston.

The Sens, who are down 3-2 in the series, will face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Scotiabank Place at 7 p.m. Saturday.
