The Hamburglar strikes again as Andrew Hammond stole a victory in Carolina tonight making 35 saves  giving the Senators a 2-1 win in overtime.

The Hurricanes open the scoring in the first period as Elias Lindholm is set up by Jeff Skinner giving the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead after one period.

The Senators tie it up with about 6 minutes left in the 2nd period on the power play. Erik Karlsson passes it to Patrick Wiercioch for the onetimer. Senators outshot the Hurricanes 16-6 in the 2nd period.

The Hurricanes put lots of pressure on Hammond in the 3rd period. Hammond having to make countless saves to keeping the Senators in the game. The Hurricanes oushot Ottawa 18-7 in the 3rd period and remain tied after regulation.

With just 15 seconds left in the overtime Kyle Turris sets up Mark Stone for the game winner as the Senators win 2-1.

Hammond made 35 saves to tie Bruins of Famer Frank Brimsek by allowing less than two goals in his first 12 career starts. Hammond remains unbeaten in regulation going 11-0-1.

The Senators with a huge showdown against the 8th place Boston Bruins Thursday night at the Canadian Tire Centre.
