The influence peddling trial of Ottawa Mayor Larry O'Brien is being delayed until Tuesday because of a scheduling problem.
The third week of testimony will resume with Conservative pollster Dimitri Pantazopoulos taking the stand.
Pantazopoulos is expected to recount a conversation he had with former mayoral candidate Terry Kilrea about O'Brien promising Kilrea a federal post if he dropped out of the 2006 municipal race.
Charges against the mayor stem from allegations he encouraged Kilrea to pull out of the race in exchange for a federal appointment on the National Parole Board.
In a statement to police in April 2007, O'Brien said Kilrea was the one who brought up the parole board job; something Kilrea also corroborated during his testimony.
O'Brien said he then contacted longtime Conservative and personal friend John Reynolds to seek advice following the meeting. O'Brien told police he was advised to stay clear of the matter.
Reynolds is expected to take the stand following Pantazopoulos' testimony.
The Crown could wrap up its case as early as this week.
