An office tower in Ottawa's west end was evacuated Wednesday after a fire quickly spread from the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant to the sixth floor of the building.
Firefighters were called to Yangming Buffet Restaurant in the Emerald Plaza on Merivale Road at about 9:30 a.m.
About 50 firefighters and 18 trucks were called in to battle the blaze, which started in the duct work of the kitchen and quickly spread to the sixth floor.
The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage. No one was injured in the blaze.
