Five local health providers are getting funding from the Province to upgrade and repair their facilities.
In a press release, the office of Ottawa-Centre MPP Yasir Naqvi says the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund is investing just over $454,000.
The cash will be distributed the following ways:
- $147,895 – Billy Buffet’s House of Welcome
- $99,300 – Carlington Community Health Centre
- $8,800 – Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre
- $158,500 – Ottawa SALUS Corporation
- $40,000 – The Ottawa Hospital
“By investing in community health infrastructure, we will help ensure that community health organizations can keep their facilities in a good state of repair, make them accessible, and continue to provide high-quality care, close to home,” Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, said in a statement.
“By keeping Salus buildings well-maintained we ensure that they blend into our neighbourhoods," Executive Director of Salus Ottawa Lisa Ker said. "We work at integrating people who are mentally ill into the community, our buildings need to as well.”
The CIRF money will go toward projects including replacements to roofs, windows, heating and air conditioning systems, fire alarms and back-up generators.
