Classes were cancelled at the Cégep de l'Outaouais Wednesday after hundreds of protesters demonstrating against proposed tuition hikes blocked the entrance of the school.

Despite a court decision ordering classes at the school to resume, about 300 student protesters marched on the schools grounds this morning.

Protests have been going on at the school and across the province for months against proposed tuition fee increases from the Jean Charest government.

The government said it would stretch the planned increase of $1, 625 over five years to take place over a seven-year period instead. Still, students are not satisfied.

Wednesday's demonstration was peaceful although several past demonstrations have turned violent.
