Potholes in the Capital could mean an increase in claims against the City of Ottawa.

Elizabeth Ferguson's car is being repaired after she hit a pothole in the Billing's Bridge area.

She says the repair bill to fix a cracked oil pan and a flat tire will be about $1,000.

She's already filed a claim against the city for the damages.

On average, the City of Ottawa receives close to 120 pothole compensation demands every year and usually pays out about five per cent of those claims.
