The Transport Minister is asking for the police to investigate the faulty rail signals in Barrhaven.
Many residents say they have lost confidence in the signals at crossings across the city.
Video taken yesterday shows a VIA train passing on Greenbank road, with barriers up, has sparked more outrage.
There are reports of about a dozen gate malfunctions in Ottawa in recent months.
A spokesperson for VIA has said a crew member was on-scene yesterday and followed procedure to stop the traffic manually.
