Charges against an Ottawa educational assistant following an Ottawa police investigation into the alleged assault of a child at a centre in Ottawa's west end have been dismissed.

In October 2022, police said the incident involving a girl under the age of 10 occurred at the Crystal Bay Centre for Special Education on May 20.  The incident was reported to police on June 8.

The child did not require medical attention, according to police.

A 29-year-old from Ottawa was originally charged with one count of assault.

The Ministry of the Attorney General told CTV News Ottawa on Monday, March 18 that the matter was dismissed on March 14.

CTV News Ottawa has removed the woman's name from the story now that the charges have been dismissed.
